What it does

  • Invoices that handle EU VAT treatment. Pick a client and the workbook chooses: domestic VAT, EU B2B reverse charge (0% with the Article 196 wording on the invoice), EU B2C, outside the EU, or not VAT registered (prints your exemption note).
  • Who owes you what. Invoice numbers, due dates, status (Open / Paid / Overdue) and days overdue are calculated; unpaid invoices are listed oldest first.
  • VAT return preparation. Output VAT, reclaimable input VAT and net payable or refund per quarter and per month, plus EU reverse-charge sales totals for the EC Sales List and self-assessed VAT on reverse-charge purchases.
  • Tax set-aside. Suggests how much of the money you received to move to savings each month and tracks your reserve against the target.
  • Year at a glance. Revenue, costs, profit, margin, outstanding and overdue invoices, VAT due, tax reserve, top 5 clients and charts.

Who it's for, and who it isn't for

For freelancers, consultants, designers, developers, writers and other solo service businesses in an EU country, including VAT-registered sole traders and those under a small-business exemption.

Probably not for you if you sell physical goods across borders, need multi-currency bookkeeping, multi-line invoices or structured e-invoicing (XRechnung, Factur-X, SDI and similar), or want full double-entry accounting.

How it was made

Built with AI assistance. The formulas were checked by recalculating the workbook with sample data and comparing the results with independently computed totals, and the VAT logic and reference rates were reviewed against European Commission sources (October 2026). There are no customer reviews to show yet, so we don't show any.

General bookkeeping aid, not tax, legal or accounting advice. Always confirm rates, thresholds, invoice wording and filing obligations with your tax authority or an accountant.

FAQ

Does it work in Google Sheets?
Yes. It uses only standard functions supported by both Excel and Google Sheets, no macros. The guide walks you through the import. Two things do not carry over: sheet protection (you can re-add it in Sheets) and exact chart styling.
Which Excel version do I need?
Any recent desktop Excel (2016 or newer, or Microsoft 365) or Excel for the web. LibreOffice Calc also works.
Does it work for my country?
It is built for any EU country: you choose your home country, enter your standard VAT rate (a reference table is included) and add the exemption wording your country requires. Local rules on filing, invoice requirements and income tax differ, so check those locally.
Is this tax advice? Will it file my VAT return?
No. It is a bookkeeping and planning tool that prepares the numbers you or your accountant need. It does not file anything and does not replace professional advice.
Refunds?
If the file does not open or does not work as described, contact us through Gumroad and we will fix it or refund you.
